Match Report
Kingswood College 1st XI vs  Pearson High School
On: Saturday, 07 Mar 2020
Venue: Away

The Kingswood 1st XI traveled to Pearson in PE for their final fixture of the term. Pearson won the toss and elected to bat in this declaration match.

The Kingswood seamers led by the ever impressive Caleb Daniels (2/26) worked tirelessly in very hot conditions. Scoring was difficult for the Pearson batsman thanks to some disciplined bowling by the Kingswood attack. Bradley Renkon (39) and Chad Quantai (30 not out) were the main contributors with the bat for Pearson. Luke Kelly (3/16) was the pick of the bowlers and he was very well supported by Mike Fourie (2/36) and Aron Erasmus (2/28). Pearson were finally dismissed for 144 runs after 61.3 overs.

In reply Kingswood got off to a solid start as the opening pair of Darius Govender and Mihlali Jamda moved the score to 30 before Jamda was first out for 12. Kingswood then lost a further 2 quick wickets and at 36/3 a partnership was needed. Darius Govender (51) and Nathan Wolff (48) played superbly in a partnership of 90 runs for the 4th wicket. Both Govender and Wolff were dismissed in quick session which left Kingswood needing 18 runs with 5 wickets in hand. Du Preez Stander (1/33) and Mihlali Nsthona (4/32) for Pearson combined well as they orchestrated a lower order collapse for Kingswood. Kingswood needed 3 runs to win with the final pair at the wicket. In the end Kingswood had enough to get themselves over the line as they won by 1 wicket.
