Match Report
Kingswood College 1st XI vs  Queens College
On: Saturday, 26 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

Kingswood won the toss and elected to bat first on Gane Field. The Queens College opening bowlers started superbly as they bowled with great discipline. The Kingswood batsmen were made to work hard throughout their innings. Darius Govender (54) anchored the innings and was ably supported by Matthew Pritchard (26), Adrian Wright (33) and then Cole van Der Merwe played very well at the end of the innings as he made 29 not out off 21 balls. Kingswood reached a competitive 197/9 after 50 overs.

In reply, Queens lost an early wicket with the total on 17. A second wicket partnership of 60 runs in 10 overs put Kingswood under pressure. The introduction of Adrian Wright (2/38) led to the much needed breakthrough. Kingswood continued to apply pressure and were able to pick up wickets at regular intervals. At 109/6 Kingswood felt like they were slightly in front but a brilliant 53 run 7th wicket partnership threatened to get Queens over the line. Michael Fourie (2/36) bowled very well at the death to ensure Kingswood won by 5 runs.
